1. NASA funding- this disad argues Bush wants to veto an increase in NASA funding that will cover the gap in time between the retirement of existing space shuttles and the new ones coming online. Failure to fund this transition will erode our aerospace industry and hurt our economic competitiveness. Passing the plan is a win for bush which boosts his political capital allowing his veto threat to be effective. There is a pretty money card about why low PC has made Bush vetoes in the status quo ineffective (referencing the GI bill) that makes this disad better than average for these veto internal link args.
2. Elections- with Obama closing the democratic nomination off the election disad has swung into full gear. This section contains the basics you need to run the election DA at NFLS (africa/fopo links, uniqueness, impacts etc) and additionally includes some work for the DA on the upcoming energy topic (energy key to the election, renewables popular/unpopular etc.) The story here is that an unpopular Bush is dragging down McCain's chances in the election.
